The Department of Master of Computer Applications was established in the year 2001. This course is a three year post-graduate programme in Computer Applications affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka, India and approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. The objective of the program is to produce IT professionals who excel in the field of Computer Applications development and are sought after by different sectors of industry, business and government.

The Department has excellent infrastructure in terms of digital air-conditioned gallery type classrooms with audio visual aids, a dedicated Library and a centrally air-conditioned & networked computer laboratory with latest technology.

The classroom lectures are enriched by special talks on subjects of topical interest by experts from the IT industry, R&D establishments and academic institutions of repute. In addition to the academic and curricular activities the students of this department are encouraged to actively participate in co-curricular activities. The department conducts national level inter-collegiate IT festival- Magnetics which provides a platform to our students to interact with students of other colleges. The Department is headed by Dr.M.S Shashidara Ph.D who leads a team of experienced, qualified and dedicated faculty members many of whom possess additional post graduate qualifications beyond MCA . He brings with him 21 years of rich and varied experience in industry and academics.

The department has on its rolls has all well trained teaching and technical staffs, exposed to the latest developments in their fields, to impart technical and practical skills to the students. The ratio of faculty to student is 1:14.
