The R.V.Teachers College was founded in the year 1951, due to the foresight and vision of its founder secretary Late M.C.Shivananda Sharma. It was the first private teacher's college to be started in the state of Mysore, now Karnataka, by Rashtreeya Shikshana Samithi. Later the Samithi was converted into a Trust.
The foundation stone of the college was laid by the then Maharaja of Mysore, Sri.Jayachamaraja Wodeyar. He blessed the college on that day and wished it all success. The land of the college was made available by the then Chief Minister of Mysore, Sri.K.Hanumanthaiah.
Rashtreeya Shikshana Samithi is administering more than two dozen institutions like the Engineering College, Dental College, NMKRV College and SSMRV College and the Teachers College, to name a few. A child can get admitted to the R.V.Nursery School, go onto the boys' or girls' school, boys' or girls' college, pursue a Master's course or change over the professional courses, like Dental, Nursing, Physiotherapy; Engineering or Teaching.
Sri.M.K.Panduranga Setty, one of the leading industrialists of Bangalore, is the president of the Trust and Sri.A.V.S.Murthy is its Honorary Secretary. The previous Secretary, Sri.D.A.Pandu, has become the Chief Mentor and Sri.D.P.Nagaraj is the Asst. Secretary. The Trust has a number of progressive trustees who are deeply interested in the cause of education. The untiring efforts of the Trust have made the institutions carve a niche for themselves. Each institution is ranked very high by the people of Karnataka. For example R.V.Engineering College is one of the top ten colleges in the country. R.V.Teachers College had .the distinction of being the only one Institute of Advanced Studies in Education, in Karnataka
