Ambika College of Arts and science was started in 1994 under S.Solai Thevar - Pappathi Ammal Educational Trust.The trust was formed in 1991 by Sri.S.Solaimalai Thevar,Chairman and Managing Director of Ambiga Group of Companies,having business interest in Textiles and Jewellery in Chennai,Madurai and Trichy.The trust is running a Marticulation Higher Secondary School for more than 15 years,at Anna Nager,Madurai & Ambiga Education Center at COLOMBO.
The College was established under the Self-financing scheme permitted by the Government of Tamilnadu and is afficated to Madurai Kamaraj University,MaduraiThe objective of the Collge is to impart to students and education of the highest order in Arts and Sciences,for their all - round development.
The College Fuctions in the newly constructed two storeyed Buildings.A well-equipped laboratory for Biochemistry.and air - Conditioned Laboratories for Microbiology and computer Science are provided.Students find great pleasure working extra hours in these Laboratories easy and regular Transport facilities are available from all parts of the city.
Limited accommodations are available in the Hostel for girls only.A separate application will have to be made for admission to the college.Mess in run on a dividing system. In 1996,the college has updated its BA Corporate Secretaryship into B.sc Microbiology.similarly in 2001 the college has started the B.C.A. course and the B.sc. Biochemistry has been updated as B.sc Mathametics in the year of 2003 to 2004.
