When EMDI Institute of Event Management was founded in 2002, we did so because we identified an acute shortage of trained workforce in the field. We spoke to industry stalwarts in Event Management and attempted to understand their needs. Curricula were structured to meet these industry defined needs, and lectures were largely delivered by industry practitioners themselves.
Today, EMDI alumni are in middle and senior management positions at virtually every event management company of repute. They study the craft in classrooms, train on events, and finally intern with and get placed with Event Management companies. Four years ago, a new trend emerged: our Event Management students were sought after by Public Relations companies.
The interdependence of Events and PR was growing, and students with a background in Events were more than a useful asset in the PR industry. This trend led us first to explore, and then establish, a full time course in Event Management and Public Relations (PGDEMPR). Our PGDEMPR alumni are now found in virtually every leading PR firm - a testament to the relevance of our curriculum.
