# To develop the competency required to enable the student to carry out his duties as an Engineer Officer in the Merchant Navy. # To provide the student with a qualification which will be accepted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UK) as giving exemption from parts of their Marine Engineer Officer Certificates of Competency at Class 2 and Class 1 levels and to satisfy the initial training requirements of the MCA, for entry to Class 4. # To satisfy all the requirements laid down by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, the Merchant Navy Training Board and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers
