NIJDT is Promoted by Delhi Industrial & Infrastructure Development Coporation Ltd-A Govt. of Delhi Undertaking. In the recent past, Govt. of India has taken various policy decisions to provide impetus to the Growth of Gem & Jewellery sector to enable India to develop a hub for this industry, thereby facilitating exports. As a step towards this direction, Delhi State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (DSIIDC) took the initiative to promote this sector in Delhi & as its first phase a training Institute under the name and style of national Institute of Jewellery Design & technology (NIJDT) has been established to provide trained human resources to the Industry, which may soon witness establishment of a SEZ in Delhi , Dedicated to Gems & Jewellery sector.
