Course Details

The course prepares the students to work in the diverse field of heritage areas. Architectural Conservation is a specialization in architecture, which addresses the special requirements of built heritage comprising of historic buildings, group of buildings, areas, cities and cultural landscapes in a comprehensive manner.

Rediscovery of Architecture aims at the development of architectural knowledge and definition of the cultural resource base. Academically the course involves research, documentation, analysis and its interpretation related with heritage. Special emphasis is placed on historic cities and traditional housing sector. Technical aspects cover traditional building materials, structural repairs, maintenance and upgradation of historic structures. Design component includes a wide range from modifications, reuse, infill and new architecture in historic areas.

Some emphasis is also placed on the management of heritage, to national to local levels for heritage buildings, sites and cities. Apart from being a specialist, skills and abilities developed in this academic programme help the students to extend the scope of their work from architecture to architectural practices for designing historic areas.

    The college campus covers a wide range of area thereby consisting of excellent facility of hostels within the campus forum. There are separate hostels for BOYS within the campus and for girls in Delhi/ NCR region. Hostel provides the students a wholesome of nutritious food and groceries. The ambiance is as such that there is a comfort level in study and students have the feeling of “a home away from home.” The mess menu is decided as per the taste and preference of the students. A warden is assigned in both the hostels, who are at the apex level of the hostel committee. Boys hostel hold the capacity of 600 mates and girls hostel consists of 400 mates.
