The department of physical education and sports was established in the vishwavidyalaya since its inception. In order to develop and enhance the physical and mental strength of the students, viswavidyalaya has a full fledges physical education and sports department having all essential and modern facilities of indoor as well as out door games.

The department of physical education and sports organize several sports activities to enhance the physical, social, mental and spiritual abilities of its students. Presently the department has developed its infrastructure through various sports facilities at the national level in basketball, lawn tennis, multi station gym etc. Dayanand Stadium (under construction) will enhance the sports facilities of track and field in the viswavidyalaya. The department organizes inter faculties tournament of various indoor and out door games regularly in every academic year. These inter faculty tournaments are the basic selection procedure to select viswavidyalaya teams to participate in all India/north zone interuniversity tournaments organized by various universities under the auspicious of "Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi".

To maintain the rules, regulations and discipline in games and sports amended by AIU and Govt. of India from time to time, there is a sport council to implement such rules and regulations in viswavidyalaya. All India Swami Shardhanand Hockey Tournament approved by Indian Hockey Federation's conducted by this viwavidyalaya every year in the month of December at the celebration of Sardhanand Balidan Diwas
