The college has a very active Training, Placement, and Student’s Welfare Department. The Department organises campus interviews every year to facilitate suitable employment for the final year students immediately after graduation. Renowned Corporate Organisations from all over the country come to the campus for interviews and recruit the students.

Regional Engineering College, Durgapur is a fully residential college. There are five hostels for boys and one hostel for girls to accommodate all the admitted students. Construction of a new hostel for foreign students and another girls hostel is in progress. A canteen for the students and the staff is located near the main building of the college.

Successful candidates from West Bengal will have to appear before a central selection committee on a specified date, time and venue which will be notified at R.E.C , Durgapur and Bengal Engineering College (Deemed University), Shibpur. The R.E.C assigned to the state or union territory will select candidates from other states or union territories other than Andaman & Nicobar Islands on the basis of merit in accordance with their admission procedure and criterion.
