Since it is one of the core Engineering branches and the present trend is stressed on IT related branches only, it was felt that there would be a dearth of Mechanical Engineers. With this in view a full fledged department of Mechanical Engineering has been set up with all major equipments that are required upto the 2nd year B. Tech program of BPUT. The following Laboratories are already set up and are being used for the 3rd Semester B. Tech Students of all disciplines.

    The Padmanava College of Engineering, Rourkela gives high priority to Hostel accommodation. Separate Hostel accommodation for gents and ladies students, particularly for outside students are available nearer to the college. Intending students shall enquiry in advance from Superintendent of respective hostel regarding availability of accommodation either in 1st year / subsequent year and prepare accordingly.

    Passed 10+2 Science in PCM and must have qualified in Orissa -JEE 2006 or AIEEE-2006,or AICET-2006, or CET-2006. Admission for 75% of seats are made through JEE counseling, and the remaining seats (Management Quota), are filled through counseling at the College from O-JEE/AIEEE/CET and AICTE qualified candidates.
