Kalasalingam University, formerly known as Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (AKCE) was started in a humble way, by Kalasalingam and Anandam Ammal Charities in 1984. “Kalvivallal” Thiru T. Kalasalingam, a veteran freedom fighter, is the founder Chairman of the College and now is the Chancellor of the Kalasalingam University. The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, New Delhi has granted the university status (Under section 3 of UGC act 1956) wide notification No. F.9-2/2002/U.3 dated 20th October 2006 to AKCE. The University is located at the foot hills of the Western Ghats in a rural setting of Virudhunagar District. The founding philosophy of the institute is to “Empower Youth”, for development through technology.

Kalasalingam University (formerly Arulmigu Kalasalingam College of Engineering (AKCE)) is situated in a serene campus surrounded by scenic mountainous setting at Krishnankoil. The University is located 60 Kms south of Madurai and 10 Kms north of Srivilliputtur on Madurai–Senkottai Highway. The University is a quiet retreat, away from the distractions and disturbances of a large and modern city, ideal for concentrated study.
