Mahavir Education Trust was established in the year 1983 with the main purpose of promoting technical education. With the help of generous donations of two main donors viz., Shrimati Laxmiben Karamshibhai Shah Trust and Shah Lalji Velji Anchorwalal, Polytechnic under the name of Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Polytechnic was started in the year 1983. The trust was lucky to have the inauguration of the Polytechnic done at the hands of Shri Vasantdada Patil, the then, Chief Minister of Maharashtra State. Further, it was felt that University level education was also the need of the society so within a year in 1984, Mangal Textiles Building located in the Ujagar Industrial Estate was purchased. After necessary modifications in the building Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College was started in that building in 1985. Visualising the needs for expansion, the Trust started the process of purchasing the adjoining vacant plot in the year 1990, but as this plot was owned by about 10 to 12 persons in parts, the persistent efforts enabled the Trust to get the possession of the plot in 1993 only. The construction work for the Modern building for the Engineering College was started in 1994. The Trust was given IOD/CC for 2&1/2 (two and half) floors every successive year, on completion of construction of the 2 & ½ floors every year. The complete building of 7 floors & the stilts was ready within 4 years.

The College has been awarded “ A “ Grade by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra State. The built up area of the College building is 1 lakh 10 thousand square feet. I must make a mention of the fact that presently we have 7 (seven) computer laboratories and an Internet Centre out of which 3 are IBM Laboratories, 2 are HP/COMPAQ laboratories with the latest Computers and Servers while the other laboratories are having older versions of computers again from the MNC companies like HP and the same are being upgraded to the latest Intel Pentium P-4s branded computers. In addition to these, two more computer laboratories are being added which are being equipped with the latest Intel Pentium P4s from the MNC companies Compaq & Acer and will be completed by this March. Thus the College will have about 450 branded Computers in Nine Computer laboratories and the Internet Centre. The old Engineering College building was modified and renovated to satisfy the needs of a modern polytechnic and the Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Polytechnic has been shifted to this building with a built up area of 45 thousand square feet.
