Biochemistry, the study of biology at the molecular level, has seen dramatic growth in its scope and importance in recent years. A knowledge of medical biochemistry is essential to understanding biology, and the rapid development of areas such as genetic engineering will ensure that biochemistry remains at the forefront of scientific practice. Biomedical scientists carry out the complex and diverse investigations required in modern hospital pathology laboratories. Graduates from this course move into global health careers related to medical biochemistry in research or medical establishments and various industries (pharmaceutical, leather industries etc.). They can also pursue a Ph.D. program in Biochemistry.
