Indian Institute of Remote Sensing

The Research and Development of remote sensing and GIS techniques and their applications are some of the thrust area activities at IIRS. This is being accomplished through Ph.D. programmes. The institute is recognized as a research centre of Forest Research Institute University Dehradun. Geoinformatics technology and its applications are listed subjects for Ph.D. degree. The institute is also affiliated to Pune University, Pune in eight disciplines. The institute is also recognized by HNB Garhwal University, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar to carry out research leading to Ph.D. Some of the IIRS faculty members have also been awarded Ph. D. degree from Andhra University, Vishakhapatnam.
