The selvam educational and charitable trust and rajas educational and charitable trust, vadakangulam were established in the year 1984 under the chairmanship of Dr.S.A.Raja, a popular philanthropist and educationist hailing from vadakkangulam. These trusts have started a group of professional colleges and all the institutions are approved by the AICTE. Encouraged by the wide encomium received from all quarters of the country, Sri A.Johnsel Raja, the eldest son of Dr. S.A. Raja established the Jaya Educational and Charitable Trust, Nagercoil in the year 1994. Under the functional control of this trust, Jayamatha Engineering College was started at Aralvaimozhi in Kanyakumari District.
