As per the curriculum designed by the Nitte University, every student shall undergo a period of certified study extending over 4 1/2 academic years from the date of commencement of study to the date of completion of examination followed by 1 year of compulsory rotatory internship. The Institute offers undergraduate as well as postgraduate training in medical and surgical specialities.

A pass in 12th standard or equivalent examination approved by the Medical Council of India with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study, with at least 50% marks in aggregate of optional subjects.
