Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Development
Course Details
The PGDRDM design rests on the tripod of (i) Rural Development Philosophy, Concepts, Principles, Policies, Programmes and Organisations (ii) Rural Development Management Practices, and (iii) Rural Social Sector. The programme consists of three major components, namely, (a) Classroom teaching and interactive learning, (b) Fieldwork (short visits and long visit), and (c) Field Attachment (Rural Organisational Internship). The first component envisages exposure to attitudes, skills and knowledge relevant to the rural society, rural development philosophy and concepts, and rural development management theories and practices. The second one primarily revolves around understanding the rural society, its people, dynamics of interaction, institutions, relationships and livelihoods by way of intensive fieldwork The last component seeks to equip the students with skills of managing organisations/enterprises through organisational attachment for 'hands on learning and applications'.

    The minimum qualification for admission to the programme is Graduation in any discipline from any recognised University. Those who are in the final year and expect to complete all the requirements of graduation by August 1, 2012, can also apply. In-service Candidates

    Scholarship
    The Scholarships Committee will administer the Scholarships. Merit Scholarships are awarded to course toppers as well as trimester toppers in the first two trimesters. Only the first two toppers in compulsory courses are awarded a merit scholarship.
    Educational Loan
    NIRD can facilitate, but does not guarantee, the process of availing of Educational loans from Banks. The repayment of loan, if availed, is sole responsibility of the student. In case the students are interested to avail educational loan support from State Bank of Hyderabad, NIRD Branch, they are required to deposit the 1st trimester course fee without waiting for the approval of the bank loan before joining the programme. Upon approval of the bank loan, the same will be adjusted against the trimester fee.
