The department of Electrical & Electronics Engg. Started in the year 1979.The department conducts four year Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical & Electronics Engg degree course affiliated to Visweshwariah Technological University,Belgaum.The course content includes the basics of Electrical Engineering and an exhaustive treatment on Electrical Machines,Electrical Networks,Electrical Power Systems,Power Generation,Transmission and Distribution,Computer Aided Stability and Load Flow analysis.The course also gives a substantial exposure to Analog & Digital Electronics,Power Electronics and Computer System and applications.The department offers and carries out projects in the conventional and relevant thrust area of technology.

The minimum qualification for seeking admission to the B.E. (8 semesters) is PUC-II of Karnataka Board or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka with minimum aggregate marks of 45% in Mathematics, Physics and in one of the optional subjects namely Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology. 40% marks in case of SC/ST & OBC. Candidates having passed the qualifying examination from other Boards / Universities are required to secure eligibility certificate from the University (VTU) before being admitted.

Admission Process
Prospective Engineering students can seek admission to the Institute through the Common Entrance Test (CET) administered by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka. The CET is administered once a year, usually after the Pre-University Examinations of the Karnataka Pre-University Examination Board, Bangalore are over. The Test is notified in Newspapers sometime in January/February each year. The eligibility to take the CET and other criteria and procedures are published along with this notification and are subject to change every year. Students from other States in India are also required to take the CET for admissions to the Engineering Course in Karnataka.
