The concept of the ABSS Institute of Higher Education recognizes the importance of all round education as fundamental to the needs of any progressive society. In India, today general awareness has been created for educating the girl child. The Governmental effort plans to reserve about 33% of the seats in almost all sectors for women. Narrowing down to West Bengal and particularly to the District of Howrah, the need is immense since the existing facilities for educating the girl child are miserably poor here. The ABSS Institute of Higher Education paves the way for realising these objectives and meeting them. Out of the 16 colleges in the District there is only one girls' college. After independence, not a single girls college has been established either by the State Government or by any NGOs.

Our college has the unique honour of being the only Girls' College to be affiliated to the West Bengal University of Technology for imparting Degree courses in Management and Computer Application. The West Bengal University of Technology Act 2000, under the West Bengal Act XV of 2000, was passed by the West Bengal Legislature and published in the Calcutta Gazette (Extraordinary) vide publication number 146-L dated 20th. July 2000. The West Bengal University of Technology came into existence on 7th. August 2000. It started functioning with the assumption of office of the first Vice Chancellor on 15th. January 2001. The basic objective of the University to organize undergraduate courses of study in Engineering and Technology in emerging areas, post graduate courses in basic sciences, applied sciences and management education.
