CSI Diocese in Coimbatore founded the college on 20th of September 1995.It was named Bishop Appasamy College of Arts and Science after the first Bishop in Coimbatore Diocese. Bishop Appasamy was a renowned scholar whose passion for writing was only overpowered by his love for reading .He authored many books on various subjects including one on meeting Sadhu Sundar Singh in Oxford, regarded as a classic creation. Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore started in 2002 as "Amrita Institute of Technology & Science" with a vision to produce quality engineers with service attitude for the benefit of the society and nation. The school was conceived of as the grooming ground for future engineering professionals of India. Initially it had only three branches: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Technology. It was then affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgum.
