October 22, 2007 was a historical day for the Mahima Shiksha Samiti, the sponsoring body of the Jaipur National University, and for the Seedling Institutions of Higher Education, when the Government of Rajasthan announced the establishment of the University. SNDT Womens University is the first Womens university in India as well as in South-East Asia. The University was founded by Maharshi Dr. Dhondo Keshav Karve in 1916 for a noble cause of Womens Education. The first five women graduated in 1921 from this University.
