Baba Farid University of Health Sciences was established under an Act passed by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in July, 1998. 1968 - Mr. T.R. Pachamuthu started the Florence Nightingale Primary School, the cornerstone of the SRM group of educational institutions. He also founded the Valliammai Society in honour of his mother Mrs. R. Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore started in 2002 as "Amrita Institute of Technology & Science" with a vision to produce quality engineers with service attitude for the benefit of the society and nation. The school was conceived of as the grooming ground for future engineering professionals of India. Initially it had only three branches: Computer Science, Electronics & Communication and Information Technology. It was then affiliated to the Visveswaraiah Technological University, Belgum.
