The Annamalai University is a unitary, teaching and residential university. It was founded by the munificence of the farsighted and noble hearted philanthropist and patron of letters the late Honble Dr. Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiar of Chettinad, Kt, LL.D., D.Litt. Vels Academy of Maritime Studies (VAMS) and Vels Academy of Maritime Education & Training (VAMET), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Glasgow College of Nautical Studies (GCNS), Scotland, UK, to jointly conduct fully residential Higher National Diploma (HND) Courses in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering respectively.
